By August 1997, the basic characteristic of the vintage was known : the end of winter and the beginning of spring were particularly dry and sunny, in such a way that the vegetative cycle was
exceptionally precocious. Flowering came in May, but was very unheaven. The harvest was started on September 10. Maturation benefited from longer daylight and higher temperatures than usual. We had
to work quite much in the vineyard throughout summer, to make up for the imperfections of the blooming.
At
the end, the wine produced is generous, supple, with a low acidity, in the style of ’82 and ’89.
